Visa, Restrictions & Allowences

Visa Information

1. No entry visa is required for GCC citizens .
2. Citizens of the following 33 countries will be issued with a free-of-charge VISIT VISA on entry to the UAE: UK, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Finland, Malta, Spain, Monaco, Vatican, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
3. Citizens of other countries should apply to their nearest UAE embassy.
4. Information concerning visa requirements is subject to change and visitors should always check with their travel agent or nearest UAE embassy before travelling. Over-stayers could be detained / fined
5. Eye scan is required for everyone except GCC citizens and the 33 visa-exempt nationalities.
   

Prohibited / Restricted Items

1. Controlled substances such as cannabis, opium etc. are banned and the penalties for handling these drugs are severe.
2. The importation of firearms and dangerous weapons is also restricted
3. Religious propaganda, potentially offensive printed matter, CDs videos or films should not be brought into the country.
4. Strict copyright laws are being enforced in the UAE, pirated video and audiotapes or illegal computer software will be confiscated.

Duty Free Allowances

1. 4 liters of alcohol or one carton / 24 cans of beer
2. AED2000 worth of cigarettes or 400 sticks of cigarettes
3. AED3000 worth of cigars
4. 2 kg tobacco
5. AED3000 worth of gifts including perfume
