SUBJECT: New protocols for entering Abu Dhabi

Dear Passenger,

Thank you for choosing to travel through Abu Dhabi International Airport.

The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis And Disaster Committee for the COVID-19 Pandemic have outlined new quarantine guidelines for international arrivals entering the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Ahead of travelling into Abu Dhabi International Airport, please ensure you are familiar with the below steps that you will need to follow:

  • On your arrival into Abu Dhabi, medical authorities will conduct a PCR test, after you have disembarked from your flight.
  • Following the PCR test, you will then need to register under the quarantine system. You will be provided with an electronic wristband, which you will need to wear throughout the two-week quarantine period.
  • The health authorities will evaluate the most appropriate location for your quarantine. This may be your home, a hotel, or accommodation provided by medical authorities.
  • 12 days after your arrival into Abu Dhabi, you will need to conduct a second PCR test.
  • Should you receive a negative result, 14 days after your arrival into Abu Dhabi, the electronic wristband will be removed by medical authorities, and you can finish your quarantine period.

These measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of all living in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. We urge you to closely adhere to these procedures. Violating them will result in penalties and fines issued by the government of Abu Dhabi.

You will need to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout your time at Abu Dhabi International Airport, consisting of a face-mask and disposable hand gloves. You will also need to adhere to social distancing measures throughout our facilities.

In addition, ensure you have downloaded the AL HOSN application on your smart device, which is available through the App Store for iOS devices (iPhones) or the Google Play Store for Android devices.

Please ensure that you are familiar and have complied with all requisite protocols to ensure that your trip through Abu Dhabi International Airport is smooth and convenient.

For more information, please visit the websites of SEHA and NCEMA.

Travellers bear full responsibility for ensuring they comply with the requirements for their travel and neither the airport nor airline can be held responsible for any issues associated with non-compliance.

Abu Dhabi International Airport

Everything you need to know

Airport information

Long transit? Or perhaps you are stopping over in Abu Dhabi for business or leisure? There are several relaxing options to pass the time in the airport or pop out and explore the city.

International connections

Follow these guidelines to make catching a connecting flight easy and stress-free.

After disembarking your plane, if your luggage is checked all the way through to your next destination, simply follow the signs to the Transit Desk.

If you need to collect your luggage, proceed to the Baggage Hall and then pass through Immigration and Customs. You will then need to go to the Departures area of the correct terminal for the airline with which you are travelling. Find out which terminal to go to.

Moving between terminals

If you need to go to another terminal to catch your next flight, it should not take you more than 20 minutes as all three terminals are adjacent to each other.

Terminal 2 is approximately 2km from Terminal 1. You will need to go through security again if you are moving between terminals.

Airport hotels

If you have got a lot of time between flights, you can check into one of the convenient airport hotels.

Aerotel is located on level 1 in Terminal 1 at International Departures (turn right after Passport / Security Control). Opt for a Solo room if you are a single guest who needs a power nap or a Double Plus room if you want some more space.

Premier Inn Hotel has direct access to Terminals 1 and 3 via the Skypark retail corridor. When arriving by air, exit the terminal building and cross the pedestrian crossing. The hotel is situated next to the Skypark building opposite the main terminal. Relax by the pool, workout in the gym or enjoy the free Wi-Fi.

Luggage storage

Passengers in transit can securely store their luggage at the baggage wrapping facility at the departures level if they are leaving the airport to explore Abu Dhabi.

Things to do while in transit

Whether you are staying in the airport or stepping out to explore the incredible sights of the city, there is no shortage of activities to keep you busy.

4 hours or less

You do not need a UAE visa if you are staying in the airport for four hours or less. Here are some ways to pass the time inside the airport:

  • Relax in a reclining seat exclusively available to in-transit passengers.
  • Pop into the Al Reem or Al Dhabi Lounge in Terminal 1 – for a small fee you can take a shower, refuel with snacks and drinks or watch a movie.
  • Check into the airport hotel, Aerotel and have a nap.
  • Shop leading international brands at Terminal 1 or 3’s duty-free shops.
  • Enjoy a meal or coffee at one of the many restaurants and cafes.
  • Buy a book, newspaper or magazine to fill the time.
  • Catch up on work with free Wi-Fi or at the free Internet kiosks.

More than 4 hours

Make the journey the destination. From speedboat rides, to cultural activities and speeding around an F1 track, we have put together three itineraries based on four, eight and 12-hour stopovers, so you can experience the wonder of Abu Dhabi right on the doorstep of the airport.
